JR Smith To Join LeBron James In Space Jam 2?

JR Smith JR Smith is the first NBA player to be approached for a role in the upcoming Space Jam 2 movie. JR's Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James will of course star in the movie, directed by Justin Lin. But, like the original, which starred Michael Jordan, the film needs a cast of NBA players.

TMZ contacted Smith's rep Daniel Hazan. He reveals producers contacted him a few weeks ago to see if Smith would be interested in a part in the movie. JR is down.
"There is mutual interest," Hazan says.
He shares that producers have toyed with the idea of Smith possibly voicing an animated character.
Hazan says that Smith's involvement "all depends on the deal."

Lin and Andrew Dodge are currently writing the script for the film. However, LeBron's Cavs will likely make a deep playoff run. After that, he's expected to jump right into USA Basketball training camps for the Rio Olympics. He will have a few short weeks off before he has to be back in the gym with the Cavs for their preseason training camp. Following that, the basketball season begins. That leaves King James little time to film a movie anytime in the near future.

Jordan's Chicago Bulls teammates/friends were featured in Space Jam. LeBron and Smith seem to be very good friends off the court so he's a natural choice.
