8 Most Common Underwear Mistakes That Women Make

Women love dressing up. So the fact that they face wardrobe challenges everyday cannot be ignored. Wearing fashionable outfits that are well matched, coordinated and suitable for the occasion or weather, doesn't make life simple.
While you do take extra caution in checking our outerwear in all aspects, the same doesn't hold true when it comes to your inner wear.
Yes ladies, deep down inside we all know this is a fact and if it is so...it's time to revamp your underwear collection!!

The sole reason for your underwear is to make you comfortable and clean. And if you aren't feeling that enough, it's surely time to change that part of your life. Not only are you causing yourself discomfort but you're asking and calling for some serious health problems like UTIs and yeast infections.
Listed below is a list of mistakes we generally make while buying or wearing underwear along with some remedies to overcome these problems.

1) Wearing your underwear while sleeping

Believe it or not, going naked to bed is very beneficial to one's health, according to Medical Daily. Bacteria lives and thrives on moist and warm environments. This can be caused by wearing underwear or multiple pieces of clothing while going to sleep. This is the ideal environment for these microbes to enter and grow in your body. So if it all possible, chuck those undies because it's better to keep yourself dry and cool than wet and bait for bacteria.

2) Machine washing your underwear
Your inner wear is very different than your outerwear. Not only in the way it looks or the reason for wearing it, but also in terms of its make and material. Lingerie is made of soft delicate material so it feels smooth on our private parts. So imagine what must be happening to your panties and bras when you put them in a washing machine. Yes, not only are you damaging the yarns and stretching the material, you are also making the texture rough, which rubs directly on your skin. The best way to keep your underwear high and dry is to hand wash these delicate. If you don't want the thin, smooth and lacy fabric to be ripped apart into shreds, it's best to avoid the machine.

3) Choosing materials other than cotton
Now we all know that our body needs to breathe, and we wear multiple layers of clothing to keep ourselves covered and warm. Some women feel sexy by wearing silk or satin panties underneath their clothes, even if they're the only ones who know what's really going on below.
But just imagine what your undies do if they aren't made of cotton? They stop the circulation of air and keep your privates moist and wet. The trapped moisture leaves all the "doors open" to all sorts of skin diseases and infections. Yuck!
Cotton clothing promotes air circulation and breathing for our skin. So it's even more necessary to buy good cotton underwear to promote good air circulation so that you're not sweltering and suffocating in the heat.

4) Wearing the wrong size
While buying clothes we always seek the right fit and size -- not too small and not too big. Often women make a huge mistake while buying underwear by purchasing and wearing a size smaller than you actually need. Ladies, this is not going to make you look any slimmer. In fact, all it will do is make you quite uncomfortable.
Tight underwear means bad or less circulation of air, which again puts you at risk for a urinary tract infection (UTI) or yeast infection. Did you know that many women have repeat UTIs, sometimes for years on end? And as for yeast infections, they cause itching and soreness and pain or burning while having sex. If you want to avoid these issues, step one is making sure you wear the correct underwear.
Then there's the usual pinching in the middle and riding up the sides issues when your size is inaccurate. And if you wear underwear that's too big, it's just going to bunch up. None of these scenarios is comfortable.

5) Not using lay flat seams
Having lay flat seams in your underwear is very important because it resolves your panty line problem without having to wear uncomfortably tight undergarments. Seriously, who wants to purposely show off their panty lines?
Also, this is a more sensible solution for day-to-day wear since panty lines are not a good style statement and aren't that comfortable for prolonged use. Lay flat seams are meant to lay flat against your skin without being visible outside like a panty line and not bunching up inside either, giving you that proper comfort.
Here are some tips to avoid panty lines (via Cosmopolitan):
  • wear thicker fabrics
  • layer with tights or pantyhose
  • use a slip
  • opt for a g-string
  • wear boyshorts if thongs aren't your thing
  • purchase shapewear such as Spanx

6) Sticking to your old pair
We do understand that underwear being inner wear is not seen on the outside, so what's the point of buying new ones very often? You know you've been there -- you have that favorite pair of panties that have stretched out a bit. Or maybe the seams are coming apart. Or, worse, they have a hole in them.
But the idea is comfort and hygiene. Wearing your old lingerie too long stretches the fabric out of shape, and it loses its soft texture that your skin needs. Not replacing your old underwear will not only make you feel uncomfortable on the inside. Those feelings will be projected to the outside and change your complete outward persona.
And the average pair of underwear doesn't cost that much money. Plus, your boyfriend/girlfriend/lover would probably love it if you showed up wearing a brand new pair of skivvies! Better yet, ask him or her to go underwear shopping with you so you can purchase something that you'll both like.

 7) Not trying new styles and experimenting
Don't be afraid to try out something new if it catches your fancy. Just because the model endorsing the product is very slim it doesn't mean the lingerie won't look good on you too! Remember that clothing manufacturers, including those who make underwear, produce their products for the masses. And the masses mean us The Women.
And we, the normal women, deserve nothing but the best. So let go and try everything that makes you feel good about yourself. And a good pair of underwear may do just that!

8) Not changing panties after a workout
As we noted previously, anything moist and hot is a breeding ground for bacteria and UTIs. You work out to burn extra fat and calories, and that generates a lot of heat in your body. Now think about those closed-in areas like our bikini area. It's one place that sweats a lot. After exercising it's essential to shower and put on a clean piece of underwear to prevent any form of infection or discomfort from occurring. So don't hop from the treadmill to a dinner out with friends without changing your panties. You can wipe down and skip the shower, but don't risk infection.
So don't you think these reasons are enough for you to go shopping for new underwear? Remember girls, it's high time that one looks and takes care of their inner wear just as much as the outerwear because it's important to by comfortable and clean!
