Leicester City open talks to renew Claudio Ranieri's contract after Premier League title victory last season

The Italian led Leicester to a spectacular and unexpected Premier League title last season
Leicester City have reopened talks over Claudio Ranieri’s contract for the first time since the end of the season as the Italian moves closer to signing an improved long-term deal. Ranieri’s agent Steve Kutner held face to face discussions with director of football Jon Rudkin during Leicester’s tour of Los Angeles and the conversations are believed to have been productive.

Ranieri, who has two years remaining on around £1.5million per year, is relaxed about the situation but has spoken of his desire to sign on for the rest of his career at the King Power Stadium.

He said this week: ‘My contract there is no problem. I am happy.’
It is thought a significant payrise, possibly to £3m, is on the agenda, as well as the removal of a clause allowing Ranieri to be poached for a relatively small sum.
Leicester’s owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and his vice-chairman son Aiyawatt have both also been out in LA, with Leicester moving on to Stockholm on Monday, where they face Barcelona on Wednesday.
