BREAKING: House of Reps suspends Jibrin

  The House of Representatives on Wednesday suspended Abdulmumin Jibrin, a lawmaker from Kano at the centre of the unfolding budget padding scandal, for 180 legislative days.
The House seats three days in a week and this consequently means that Mr. Jibrin’s suspension would last more than a year.

Enough is Enough (EiE) and 16 other Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have called for the reformation of the National Assembly following allegations of forgery, corruption, and padding rocking the institution. The CSOs called for the publication of the budget of the National Assembly, and that Principal Officers of the House of Representatives and the Senate should step down until all allegations are properly investigated and justice served.

 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-arraigned a former governor of Abia, Orji Uzor Kalu and two others on a 34-count amended charge bordering on fraud.
Kalu, his company, Slok Nigeria Limited and his former Commissioner for Finance, Jones Udeogo, were re-arraigned before Justice Anwuri Chikere of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Tuesday.

5 Persons Killed After Petrol Tanker Exploded in Akwa Ibom State

 A petrol tanker has crushed five persons to death after losing control and crashing into a pavement, along Obong Itam Road in the Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, PUNCH reports.
The report stated that the tanker was coming from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) depot in Calabar, Cross River State, when the accident occurred.
According to an eyewitness, Cyril Ekpenyong, the tragic incident occurred on Monday at about 8:30PM.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shi’ites yesterday released a statement asking the Federal government to arraign their leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky, who has been in their custody since December last year following the clash the group members had with the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna state. The group in the statement released said should their leader go blind, “it will be a tragedy of monumental proportion".
