Love Art? Five Incredible Pieces Of Modern Art With A Message

What is art? Over the last few decades, the whole concept of art has changed. It is no longer something that is simply pleasing to the eye or something that appeals to the senses.

Modern art conveys a message and speaks to people's hearts and souls. It strikes a chord with each individual which is remarkable in its beauty and surrealism, which is where the magic lies.
Here are five incredible pieces of modern art that truly created a ripple in the world...

1. Redefined Dresses

Hussein Chalayan is a visionary whose work is known due to the inventive use of materials and integration of technology, as well as the breakdown of the creative process of design.

Among his best known works, are a coffee table that doubles as a wooden skirt, a paper dress that can be folded into an envelope and airmailed and also armchair covers that can be used as dresses.

One of the designs shown here is of breakable dresses, which he created to represent the fragile shell that we build around ourselves using technology and how easily these shells can be broken.

The dress with plastic bubbles shows how the world around us influences the way we dress.

And perhaps you remember this? Lady Gaga at the 2011 Grammy Awards. She arrived in a "Big Chalayan Egg".

2. Tilt Brush

Tilt Brush is an app released by Google. It has revolutionized art and the way we perceive the space around us. Using just the app and an HTC Vive Virtual Reality headset, you can literally create work of art out of thin air.

The app allows the user to create 3D paintings in the space around them. Using various colors and brushstrokes, not only can you swirl paint in the space around you, you can walk through your creations and share them with others so that they can immerse themselves in it too.

Decided to try painting Satterlee Hall in Tilt Brush (not drawn to scale because of space constraints). I don't think it turned out too bad, considering I'm just learning how to use the program. #sunypotsdam #tiltbrush #satterleehall #digitalpaintingcchapin16 Instagram

3. Red Carpet Fashion from Plastic Bottles

WENN
At the May 2016 Met Gala held in New York City, Emma Watson made an appearance in a dress which shook the world.

The theme for the event was "Manus X Machina: Fashion in a World of Technology", and true to it, she donned something that is only possible in this age of technology.

Collaborating with Calvin Klein and Eco-Age, she designed this dress herself. Three kinds of yarn, all made from waste plastic, were used to make the dress, proving that even garbage can be turned into something beautiful!

4. Toyota Setsuna

Toyota
One look at the Toyota Setsuna and even the most exacting art critic would have to admit that it is truly worthy of a place of honor in the art world.

Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is built entirely of wood. It was crafted using traditional Japanese crafting techniques, shunning the use of nails and screws, by simply interlocking the individual parts together.

It is meant to be a family heirloom as the wood will age depending on how the owners care for it, giving each car its own personality. It comes with a 100 year clock installed that will keep ticking as you pass this one-of-a-kind vehicle down to future generations.

When photographer Fabrice Monteiro went back to the place of his birth, Senegal, after a life elsewhere, he was shocked to see the degradation of land and water due to pollution.

Knowing that other efforts had failed to raise awareness among the locals, he devised a way to speak the language of the land, using animism (attribution of a living soul to plants, animals and natural phenomenon combined with the belief that there is a higher power that runs the universe).

He created photographs which showed djinns (supernatural beings) being ravaged by modern man's actions. Models were used who wore clothes made from garbage, created by a fashion designer, Doulsy.
