 Game of Thrones has become so popular it's drawing viewers away from porn.

One of the world's largest adult websites, Pornhub, reported that traffic to the site dipped 4.5 per cent during the premiere of the seventh season on Sunday. Pornhub said the number was a 'considerable change', since Sunday night is one of the most popular times for porn lovers.

During last season's Episode 4 - 'Book of the Stranger' - Pornhub's traffic decreased by 4.9 per cent.

However the graph showed that two hours after the episode on Sunday viewers returned to their regular porn-watching habits.

The premiere of Game of Thrones' seventh season shattered record ratings. 16.1 million HBO subscribers tuned in to watch the 'Dragonstone'.

Data released by Pornhub showed there was a significant slump during the premiere on Sunday night - but traffic soon returned to normal 

Of that total, around 10.1 million were traditional viewers, while a further six million streamed the show online.  

This made the new season of the fantasy epic HBO's most watched series debut ever, and an astonishing 50 per cent increase from the sixth season's opener.

The seventh season premiere was also the most-tweeted episode of all time, with 2.4 million Tweets. 

Arya Stark's gruesome revenge and Ed Sheeran's cameo were particularly popular scenes.          

However not all fans were pleased with the singer's appearance, with one fan of the programme memorably tweeting that the fact he was 'not being brutally disembowelled was very disappointing.'
