The west Midlands club have been rooted to the bottom of the table, having won just three top-flight matches this term, and their relegation to the Championship has been confirmed with four games remaining.
The visitors to Old Trafford needed all three points to be in with any chance of prolonging their stay in England's top flight but a goal from Marcus Rashford ensured that Louis van Gaal's side would consign them to the drop.
Villa are now a massive 15 points from safety, having now lost each of their last nine league games, and have so far scored only 23 goals this term, conceding a massive 65.
Two two teams who will join Villa in the Championship are yet to be decided, however, with Norwich City, Sunderland and Newcastle United all battling to stay in the division, while the likes of Crystal Palace and Watford are not yet completely safe.
