  Chelsea have made a sensational £38m move to bring David Luiz back to the club two years after selling him to PSG. According to Sky Sports, the London club's £38m offer plus add-ons for the 29 year-old Brazilian centre back was accepted by PSG after rejecting initial bid of £30m. David Luiz left the club to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2014 for £50 million, a record fee for a defender at that time. But now he could be set to complete a stunning return to Stanford Bridge on transfer deadline day.

CBN lifts FX operations restrictions all commercial banks sanctioned last week for non-remittance of NNPC funds.

  The Central Bank of Nigeria has lifted the restriction on Foreign Exchange transactions it placed on 9 commercial banks last week for failing to remit $2.12 billion belonging to the nation’s oil corporation, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), into the Treasury Single Account TSA. The nine banks comprised of three tier-one lenders and six tier-two deposit money banks.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in real terms declined by 2.06% in second quarter of 2016.
This is contained in the Nigerian Gross Domestic Product Report for Second Quarter of 2016 released by NBS on Wednesday in Abuja.
The report stated that the figure was lower by 1.70% points from the negative growth rate of 0.36 per cent recorded in the preceding quarter.
It stated that it was also lower by 4.41 per cent points from the growth rate of 2.35 per cent recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2015.

 Commercial airline, Aero Contractors, has announced the suspension of its scheduled services beginning from Thursday, September 1, 2016.
A statement by the airline’s management said that the depreciation of the Naira within the last six months has made it impossible for the airline to achieve its operational targets, adding that the suspension was part of the strategic business realignment to reposition and return the airline back to profit making.

48-year-old Man to spend the next 40 years behind bars for Pouring Hot Water on Gay Couple

A Georgia man, Martin Blackwell, 48, has been found guilty of eight counts of aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated assault. The victims, Marquez Tolbert, 21, and Anthony Gooden, 24, the son of Blackwell’s girlfriend, were left with severe burns that required surgery.
The jury at the Fulton County Superior Court deliberated for about 90 minutes, and sentenced Blackwell to 40 years behind bars.

The Nigerian senate may probe the minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung and the Nigeria Olympic committee (NOC) on their roles over the poor performance of the country’s Team Nigeria contingent in Rio 2016.
The chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Joe Obinna Ogba (PDP, Ebonyi), who was also part of the country's delegation to Rio says Mikel Obi & Samson Siasia were wrong to collect the $390k given to them by Japanese surgeon Dr. Katsuya Takasu, saying no one's aware of the source of money.
“My committee intends to invite the NOC to come and brief us on the Olympics. Apart from the late arrival of our athletes’ kits, you can see even our national anthem at the opening ceremony was the wrong one. So, all these, we are going to find out what happened when we resume,” Ogba said during an interview with journalists in Abuja on Thursday.. 
“I could recall that my Committee invited the Minister of Sports three times to tell us the level of his Ministry’s preparation, particularly on funding and he assured us that funds had been released.” 
“Out of curiosity, we asked the Minister of Finance and she confirmed that funds had already been released to Sports Ministry only to discover that it was not so. Is that the change Buhari-administration promised?, ” he asked. 
“I am speaking in my personal capacity that it was wrong for our players to have collected the money. I don’t think it was nice for our country to accept such money given the happenings around the world now. Money is good but it’s not every money that comes your way that you collect. So, I associate myself fully with the President of the Nigeria Football Federation,” he noted.

Uche, who claimed to be a military officer working for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO in Kabul, Afghanistan allegedly, collected the money from his victim, H. Uyen, a Vietnamese woman.

Ekiti state Assembly propose 6 months jail term for herdsmen who graze their cattle on undesignated area

  Fulani herdsmen who graze their cattle in areas that are not designated for grazing will soon be sent to jail for six months without an option of fine. This is according to a new bill titled 'Prohibition of Cattle and Other Ruminants Grazing in Ekiti, 2016' that was passed by the Ekiti state House of Assembly on Tuesday. The legislatures at their plenary unanimously passed the law.
